Madison Police say an armed robber fled empty-handed after facing a woman swinging a metal walking cane.

Police say a 69-year-old woman and her 79-year-old husband were both home when a man entered through their front door late Tuesday night. Their residence is in the 2400 block of Allied Dr.

The man had a handgun and demanded money. The woman grabbed the cane and started swinging it at the intruder.

The couple was not injured, but the husband was pushed onto a couch.

Madison Police describe the suspect as: Male, black, 5'8" - 5'10", short hair, clean shaven, wearing a black shirt, gray basketball shorts, and a black t-shirt over his head.
