911 Changes in Dane County

Posted Thursday, June 26th 2014 @ 6am  by WIBA

In an effort to improve response times to emergencies, The Dane County 911 Center Board approved two measures at its meeting yesterday. Live calls will be handled first under a 90-day test program, and dropped calls would be put in queue to be returned at a later time. Right now, those abandoned calls are returned immediately.

Also...911 call-takers will dispatch units closest to a scene, regardless of whether the emergency is in the jurisdiction of the nearest E-M-S or fire department.
