Dane Co. deputies and crews from the Madison Fire Department rescued boaters from a capsized sailboat on Lake Monona Tuesday evening.

High winds caused the smaller catamaran-style boat to capsize around 6:15 p.m.

An observer on the shoreline called 911 when he saw the occupants struggling to get the boat upright.

Deputies were able to pull the two boaters from the water and get them to the shore, while fire crews towed the boat.

Both boaters were wearing their personal flotation devices and were not injured.
