Bomb Scare Turns Up Negative Near UW Hospital

MADISON - UW Police and the Dane County Bomb Squad resolved a potential bomb scare after reports of a ticking noise coming from a trash can.

The noise was heard outside the Wisconsin Insitutes for Medical Research building on Highland Avenue, and reported by a concerned citizen at 11 am Saturday.

Odin, the U-W-P-D'S bomb-sniffing dog determined there were no explosives in the trash can.

It was discovered the noise was from a small electronic device.

The incident shut down Highland Avenue for 30 minutes.
