The Madison School Board unanimously approved new teacher contracts Wednesday.

It calls for a small boost in pay, 0.25 percent, for the 2015-16 year.

The union ratified the contract on Tuesday night.

Superintendant Jennifer Cheatham says the raise could be increased by the board, once the district knows how much state funding it will receive for that year.

The head of Madison Teachers Inc, John Matthews, has called the amount a "real potshot at teachers".
