UPDATE: The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office identifies the victim as 56 year old Raeanne Tucker.
Preliminary autopsy findings show that Tucker died from injuries sustained in the fire.
It was a 56 year old woman who died in a fire at a Waunakee Senior Living Facility this week. The name of the victim has not yet been released. Another 65 year old resident was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Authorities say at least $100,000 in damage was done to the facility on O'Malley Street. It was engulfed when they arrived, just after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
WAUNAKEE, Wis. (AP) _ One person has died and two others have been injured in a fire at a senior housing complex in Waunakee.
Firefighters were called to 16-unit complex in Waunakee about 8 p.m. Wednesday. Fire Chief Gary Acker says the two injured people were taken to the hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Others in the complex were evacuated and taken to the fire station where the Red Cross provided assistance.
Authorities say the fire apparently started in the kitchen of one of the units. Acker says two of the units were damaged.
