MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Parents with school-aged children are making alternative arrangements as the bitter cold cancels classes across Wisconsin _ some for a second day.
From Eau Claire to La Crosse to Hayward to Green Bay to Milwaukee, educators say it's just too cold for students to go outside. Some universities, including the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, are also canceling classes. The Madison campus will be open, but only classes that start at noon or later will be held. Madison Area Technical College has closed campuses, including Madison, for the day.
Forecasters expect the wind chill will bottom out at 40 below or better Tuesday morning. A wind child warning is in effect until noon. Temperatures are in double digits below zero across the state. Sparta's temperature is 27 below, without the wind chill. In Antigo, it's 22 below and Kenosha is 12 below.
