MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ Frigid temperatures in Wisconsin are keeping plumbers busy.

They're dealing with frozen pipes that burst in residential properties. Officials say every homeowner should know where their water main shut off valve is located. That is the first course of action if a pipe freezes. Wrapping pipes with heating tape or coil is also recommended.

The City of Madison also has issues with its water system. Crews have been working around the clock to repair at least a dozen water main breaks throughout the city this week. Madison water utility spokeswoman Amy Barrilleaux says there wasn't enough insulating snow on the ground before temperatures plunged.
