MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ Madison police who shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect have been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said Monday that after examining the evidence surrounding the May 2 killing of Londrell Johnson, there was no potential criminal liability for the two officers involved.
Ozanne's report says Johnson broke into his neighbors' apartment and killed a mother and daughter before police fatally shot him.
Ozanne says responding officers were told a man was inside attacking a family. When officers entered the apartment, Ozanne says Johnson ``made a `grunt' or `exhale' sound as he moved towards them with the knife in his hand.''
Both officers opened fire, killing Johnson.
A separate review of the shooting by the state Department of Justice is ongoing.
