The Dane county Sheriff's Department has been called nearly three dozen times this year to Black Earth Meats, following up on complaints.

While none of the citations were criminal, authorities point out that is a lot of calls to one facility in a village of that size.

Tuesday night, the Black Earth Village Board may take action following a hearing.

One of the citations against Black Earth Meats this year stemmed from an incident when a truck was overfilled and a stomach from a slaughtered animal fell out of it. The business was also cited for noise from squealing pigs.

Company officials say they go above and beyond to keep the facility cleaned.

Black Earth Meats employs about 40 people.
