WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin authorities have charged a Michigan man with breaking into the Wausau police chief's home and stealing his truck.
WAOW-TV reports 39-year-old Jason Warner faces up to 19 years in prison if convicted on the felony and misdemeanor charges.
The Marathon County Sheriff's Department says the break-in happened Tuesday at Police Chief Jeff Hardel's home in the Town of Maine.
Officers from the State Patrol picked Warner up after getting a call about a man walking along Interstate 94. They say his family in Michigan had reported him missing.
Authorities say they found Hardel's truck about 4 miles away at a rest stop.
It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
