Crews closed the Beltline and raised two massive steel bridges over the highway early Thursday morning.

The project will complete a Cannonball Path pedestrian and bike route over the Todd. Dr. exit. The construction team plans to open the path in October.

The two sections installed overnight span 360 feet over the highway. Each piece is 16 feet wide and weighs 150,000 lbs.

The project will include two additional bridge spans over the frontage roads. Installation of those sections is scheduled for Sep. 9 but the Beltline will remain open. Including ramps, the entire raised portion will extend 900 ft.
