MILWAUKEE (AP) _ A new poll finds that the race between Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic challenger Mary Burke is a statistical dead heat.
The Marquette University law school released its poll Wednesday. It says 46 percent of registered voters would vote for Walker and an equal percent support Burke. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Among likely voters, Walker leads 48 percent to 45 percent, which is still within the margin of error.
The poll of 805 registered voters was conducted between May 15 and Sunday. It's the second poll since the two campaigns started advertising in the governor's race.
Walker is running for re-election in November. Burke is a former executive with Trek Bicycle Corp.
