UPDATE (February 9; 6:30am): The Sun Prairie School District has fired Janet Kula, who was taken into custody last week for her alleged involvement with a 17-year old male student.

The district initial placed the 25-year old special education assistant on leave Wednesday, but then announced the firing Friday.


Sun Prairie Police say a Sun Prairie High School support staff member is in custody for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Police say they received information about the relationship from high school administration on February 5th. Officers and the school district partnered in the investigation, and determined that the relationship began in November of 2013. It allegedly became inappropriate over the following month.

Police have taken Janet Kula into custody for sexual assault of a child by a school staff person.
