University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Chancellor Richard Telfer will serve as the UW System's interim president starting in January.
Current system President Kevin Reilly announced in July he plans to quit at the end of the year. Board of Regents President Michael Falbo recently announced that Telfer will take over for Reilly after Reilly leaves.
Telfer will serve as president until a new permanent president is ready to take office. The regents hope to choose that person in January.
Beverly Kopper, UW-Whitewater's provost and vice chancellor, will serve as the school's interim chancellor. Telfer will resume his position as chancellor after the new system president starts.
