Surveillance video and witness statements helped the Violent Crimes Unit piece together the sequence of events that took place in the BP lot. The evidence also enabled detectives to identify and arrest two of at least three shooters.
Claude D. Knight, age 28, was taken into custody last Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals' Fugitive Task Force. He was apprehended in Chicago on a warrant. VCU will be referring a tentative charge of first degree reckless endangering safety to the Dane County District Attorney.
Last Friday, VCU detectives, aided by the MPD's Gang Unit took Christopher L. Somersett, Jr., age 22, Madison, into custody on Madison's South Side. He will be facing a tentative charge of attempted first degree intentional homicide.
