Storm damage reports in southern Wisconsin


UPDATE (WKOW) -- Overnight, there are more reports of storm damage in southern Wisconsin. This is in addition to what was already reported below.

In Dane County:

  • Trees and power lines down throughout Dane County, with worst damage in western portions, near Mount Horeb
  • Shingle damage to home in Mount Horeb
  • Large tree limbs down in Belleville
  • Greater than 2 inch diameter tree branches down in Belleville

In Green County:

  • Trees down across Green County and in Monroe
  • Trees and power lines down in multiple areas of Green County, including Monticello

In Rock County:

  • Several trees and branches down throughout Rock County and in Beloit

In Iowa County:

  • Trees and power lines down in the western part of Iowa County, near Highland
  • Power lines down and large tree branches down in Cobb and Mineral Point

In Lafayette County:

  • Trees and power lines down in western part of Lafayette County
  • High winds near Belmont

MADISON (WKOW) -- 27 News is receiving reports of damage across southern Wisconsin after a line of severe storms moved through the area Wednesday night.

The Grant County Emergency Operations Center says there are reports of significant damage following a Tornado Warning.

Significant Damage Reports:

  • Blue River Area: Report of possible tornado damage/trees down on Forest Road.
  • Muscoda Area: Power lines down throughout Village. Report of significant damages in industrial park including a roof off of a commercial building, a semi tipped over and a gas leak at a commercial facility.
  • Bagley Area: Tree on apartment building, Highway A just outside town.
  • Mount Hope Area: Commercial building that was under construction near Highway 18/North Main Street reported destroyed.
  • Lancaster Area: Home struck by lightning, North Jefferson Street.
  • Fennimore Area : Home struck by lightning, Mount Ridge Road. Cattle barn down on Town Line Road.
  • Bloomington Area : Barn down on Kansas Road.
  • Hazel Green Area : Roof off commercial building on Church Street.

In Grant County there are no reports of any injuries. Officials say power is out in the southern part of Boscobel, near the Muscoda Industrial Park and the southern area of the Village, in Bloomington, and portions of Blue River.

The National Weather Service also received numerous reports of damage across southern Wisconsin.  Some of the worst:

  • Hangar damaged at the airport in Prairie du Chien (Crawford County)
  • Shed damaged, 4-wheeler blown owner near Mount Hope (Grant County)
  • Trees & powerlines down. Significant damage in Lancaster (Grant County)
  • Large branches falling in Richland Center (Richland County)

Rock County Communications says it received numerous reports of trees down across the western portion of the county, specifically near Nelson Road and Beloit Newark Road south of Orfordville. Officials say crews with the Department of Public Works were out in multiple areas responding to downed trees. They say outages were mostly contained to Beloit and Janesville.
