Madison police took a suspected serial thief into custody early Friday morning. Cops say he was caught in the act, trying to break into a car on Lakeland Avenue, which is in the Buckeye Road area on Madison's East Side.
Police believe he hit up around 200 cars overnight. They simply followed his footprints in the snow, going from vehicle to vehicle.
Police warn residents in that area that they make wake up to find their vehicles have been broken into. If so, contact police.
