Woman pulled over twice in 3 hours for intoxicated driving

VERONA (WKOW) -- Police have arrested a Madison woman after she was pulled over twice in one night.Around 2 a.m. Saturday, Verona police officers pulled over Yangchen Sopa, 47, for a defective headlamp. She was arrested for a first offense intoxicated driving violation.

Verona police say Sopa was released a few hours after getting pulled over, but she was stopped again by the same police officer at 5:21 a.m. with the same defective headlamp. After her second stop, she was arrested for OWI for a second time.

Her second arrest is considered a first violation because Sopa has yet to be convicted of her first stop, according to police.

The two cases are now pending with the Verona Municipal Court.

If Sopa is convicted of OWI for the first stop, the second stop will then go to the Dane County District Attorney's Office for criminal prosecution.
