Shoplifting suspect “banned for life” from several Madison stores

Madison police say they’ve arrested a “prolific shoplifting suspect” once again and he’s been banned from certain stores for life.

Jermaine E. Harris, 45 of Madison, was arrested for an incident Saturday at the Walmart on Nakoosa Trail. He’s tentatively charged with strong armed robbery, retail theft and felony bail jumping.

Police say Harris has now been banned for life from West Towne Mall, East Towne Mall and all Walmart, Walgreens and Hy-Vee stores.

Police say Harris stole ten bottles of liquor, worth about $320, from the Walmart Saturday afternoon. Officers also had probable cause to arrest him for two other recent retail thefts. Police say Harris already has five open court cases including two felonies and three misdemeanors, all related to retail thefts.
