Police arrest suspect in Langdon Street attack

MADISON (WKOW) — The Madison Police Department announced Thursday it had made an arrest in last Sunday’s Langdon Street attack.

In a message from the department’s Public Information Officer Joel Despain, the department announced: “an arrest has been made in the recent substantial battery of a UW-Madison student.”

Madison Police Chief Mike Koval will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Thursday to provide details on “the work it took to identify and arrest a suspect,” police said.

According to Chief Koval’s blog, officers got a call around 3:30 p.m. Sunday from people in the area who saw a man dragging a woman toward Lake Mendota.

They then found a 19-year-old with multiple injuries to her face.

Police are saying it appeared to be a random attack.
