Kwik Trip to sell fuel made from Dane Co. trash

VERONA (WKOW) – Kwik Trip is buying into the saying one’s trash is another’s treasure.

The gas station will soon start selling fuel made from Dane County Landfill trash.

County officials announced the partnership today at a Kwik Trip station in Verona.

“We just happen to have the good fortune in Dane County of having an interstate natural gas pipeline pass through the property at the landfill,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “What this has done is given us the opportunity to sell landfill gas and put it directly into that pipeline.”

When completed, Dane County says the landfill biogas project will be able to convert trash and cow manure into compressed natural gas.

Kwik Trip will then sell that at 35 stations throughout the Midwest.
