GOP Lawmakers Request Reverse Ruling On Lame Duck Laws

(Madison, WI) -- GOP lawmakers are asking the appeals court to reverse a ruling that stops a series of lame duck laws which limit the powers of Democratic Governor Tony Evers. On Thursday, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Richard Niess blocked the series of laws passed by Republicans in a lame-duck session in December. A lawyer for GOP lawmakers says the ruling "is already causing serious harm to our state" and could undermine over 300 other laws and resolutions spanning the last 40 years. The judge ruled that the actions taken during the lame-duck session were unconstitutional.
