Dane County Board members pass zoo staffing resolution

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) — The Dane County Public Works and Transportation Committee adopted two zoo resolutions to make sure the Henry Vilas Zoo stays fully functional after the contract between Dane County and its longtime fundraising partner comes to an end.

At a meeting Tuesday the committee endorsed $620,000 to add staff at the zoo, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Another measure endorsed a contract for Centerplate to operate concessions at the zoo. That’s the same company that runs concessions at Alliant Energy Center.

“I’m grateful to the County Board of Supervisors, our incredible county zookeepers, and the countless others in our community who have stepped forward in recent days in support of Dane County’s Henry Vilas Zoo,” said County Executive Joe Parisi after the meeting.

WSJ says the measures will go to another committee on April 1 and the county board on April 11.
