Columbia County DA resigns, accuses county of 'strong-arm' tactics

Columbia County’s district attorney submitted her letter of resignation, and accused others in county government of pressuring her into leaving.

In her letter, former District Attorney Tristan Eagon said, “I am hereby resigning as District Attorney of Columbia County effective immediately.”

Eagon alleges that some in county government pressured her into leaving by attacking her and her staff.

A source with knowledge of the closure of the Columbia County District Attorney’s office says D.A. Tristan Eagon is resigning her post.

Eagon has not been reachable for comment. Assistant District Attorney Jordan Lippert declined comment when contacted by 27 News as he left the district attorney’s office, which was closed again Tuesday.

The office’s doors have been shut since Monday, with all phone calls to prosecutors and staff going to voice mail.
