Power outage following crash in Windsor

At approximately 1:14am, Dane County deputies responded to a single vehicle injury crash on North Towne Rd approximately .1 mile south of Gray Rd in the Village of Windsor. On arrival, they located and arrested the driver, Francisco R. Ortega, age 23 of Madison, for Operating while Intoxicated 2nd Offense.

The investigation revealed Ortega was operating his 2001 Acura 3.2 CL south on North Towne Rd when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck a power pole causing the vehicle to roll several times. Ortega was wearing his seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags did deploy. Ortega was transported to UW Hospitalwhere he was admitted with non-life threatening injuries. Ortega was additionally cited for Failure to Maintain Control of his vehicle and Operating after Revocation.

Due to the crash and damaged power pole, the Village of Windsor was without power. North Towne Rd between Gray Rd and Windsor Rd was closed for approximately four hours while Alliant Energy repaired the damaged power pole and restored power.
