Authorities identify missing child as search of Wisconsin River continues

UPDATE (WKOW) — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office says the boy who disappeared in the Wisconsin River while swimming with family members is 11-years-old.

Sheriff Brent York identified the boy as Jamison Owen Dean Miller of rural Grand Marsh.

Miller went into the water Tuesday night and did not resurface.

Crews began searching the water that night and resumed the search Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday, searchers pulled their boats out of the Wisconsin River around 8 p.m. Thursday. Sheriff York said he spoke with the boy’s mother after crews left the water.

“Obviously a disappointment that we weren’t able to make a recovery,” York told 27 News. “But she knows and thanked us for everything that we’re doing and the long hours we’re putting in to find her child.

York says crews will be back on the water Friday morning.
