Middleton High, Clark St Community School closed Wednesday due to threat

MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District will close the district's two high schools Wednesday due to social media threats.

"Late today, we learned of serious and specific threats to students on social media. We take these threats very seriously. We have shared the threats with the Middleton Police Department and they are investigating," the District wrote in an email to parents late Tuesday.

The district's elementary and middle schools will be in session Wednesday.

The District did not elaborate on the threats beyond its initial description that they originated on social media.

Some students had planned a walk out at Middleton High School Wednesday over what they say is administrator's lack of response to alleged sexual harassment and assault at the school.
