Altoona superintendent’s case tied to federal indictment in North Carolina

The child pornography case against Altoona Superintendent Daniel Peggs is tied to another case - this time in North Carolina, according to court documents.

Bryan Lee Ragon, 43, of Charlotte, North Carolina was charged Thursday with sex trafficking of a minor and production of child pornography.

Those are the same charges Peggs is facing. However, Ragon is also charged with transportation of a minor and receipt of child pornography.

According to Ragon's indictment, he knowingly took a minor across state lines for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual activity in December 2015.

That is the same month and year that Peggs allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conduct, specifically using an iPhone to produce a video of child pornography.

Myra Longfield, with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, said on Friday the common factor between the two cases is the victim.

Ragon's next court hearing is Tuesday in Charlotte. Peggs will be back in federal court in Madison on Monday.
