Dodge Co. Sheriff: Mother charged in the death of 3-year-old son

The Dodge County Sheriff announced Thursday the arrest of a 32-year-old Lomira woman in connection with the death of her 3-year-old son.

Responding officers and deputies from the Lomira Police Department and Dodge County Sheriff's Office found the toddler dead Friday, March 6, in a home at 725 Railroad Avenue in the Village of Lomira.

The sheriff's office said following the investigation into the child's death, an autopsy revealed the death "was not of natural causes." Authorities said "due to the circumstances" of the case, it is not releasing the child's name.

Thursday's release revealed the arrest of the boy's mother, whom the sheriff's office identified as Jamie Hildebrandt of Lomira. Authorities said they arrested Hildebrandt and booked her into jail on the charge of Child Neglect Causing Death. Authorities also announced the arrest of of the child's father, 33-year-old Frank Pleester, Jr. of Lomira. They said Pleester was taken into custody on a probation hold and has not yet been charged in connection to the boy's death.

The sheriff's office said two other children were taken from the home by Dodge County Human Services. Authorities added the investigation will continue over the next few weeks and referred the public to look for new information in criminal complaints once they become available.

"Cases of this magnitude involving children are always difficult for everyone involved and as a result leave lasting impacts on all family members, first responders and investigators," said Sheriff Dale Schmidt, per the release. "We have provided our agency Chaplain to the family and we have provided our peer support team to the first responders and investigators as necessary."
