American Family Championship canceled

The American Family Championship has been canceled this summer due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The PGA Tour Champions event was scheduled to be held May 30-June 7 at University Ridge Golf Course. However, the coronavirus outbreak forced the shutdown of all University of Wisconsin facilities to non-essential personnel.

The event began in 2016 and has raised more than $7.1 million for local non-profit organizations.

All events surrounding the golf tournament have been canceled as well including the UW Carbone's Race for Research and the concert featuring Little Big Town and the BoDeans.

American Family Insurance has announced they will be reallocating its tournament title sponsorship investment to make donations to American Family Children's Hospital and other charities.

The Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation will immediately distribute $2.8 million to charities, including $1 million to COVID-19 relief efforts in Wisconsin.

Ticket holders, volunteers and sponsors will be contacted by the tournament team to discuss refund options.

The 2021 tournament is scheduled to be held June 5-13 at University Ridge. The concert will be June 11 and feature Little Big Town with BoDeans.
