‘Police Free Schools’ painted in front of MMSD administrative building

MADISON (WKOW) -- The group called Freedom Youth Squad has painted the words "Police Free Schools" on the road in front of the Madison Metropolitan School District administrative building.

This comes after the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis.

Community groups in Madison have been calling for the removal of officers in Madison schools.

District leaders have also recommended school resource officers be removed from high schools, but no action has been taken.

MMSD signed a three-year contract with the Madison Police Department in 2019.
