The National Weather Service (NWS) now confirms two separate tornadoes hit in Green County, near Monticello, Wednesday night.
They say a tornado began near the intersection of Highway 69 and Cold Springs Road and ended near Sulzer and Feld Roads. Along the path, a barn and pole shed were destroyed. Four power poles snapped, four houses were damaged and numerous trees were either snapped or uprooted along the path. They even say a camper rolled into a pond.
Maximum winds reached 105 mph and the path length was approximately 2.1 miles with a width of 300 yards. NWS rated the second tornado as an EF-1 as well.

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirms an EF1 tornado hit Green County Wednesday night.
After a damage survey Thursday morning, the NWS says the tornado was on the ground for about a half-mile about three miles south-southwest of Monticello, packing maximum wind speeds of 100 miles per hour. The width of the twister's path was 150 yards.
The Weather Service says the short-lived tornado hit Faith Engineering, where it damaged the roof of two buildings, broke windows and flipped a trailer. Multiple trees were either snapped or uprooted and a dumpster was lifted and blown across Highway 69.

GREEN COUNTY (WKOW) - The National Weather Service (NWS) reports a possible tornado touched town between Monroe and Monticello along Hwy 69. It all happened just before 7 pm Wednesday evening.
Emergency Management reports roof damage and power poles snapped along Hwy 69. NWS officials will be on site on Thursday to survey the damage and determine whether it was caused by an actual tornado or straight-line winds.
In the meantime, Highway 69 is closed between Monticello and Monroe because of downed powerlines and storm debris. The state Department of Transportation says northbound traffic should take County Road Dr. to WIS 59, to County F, back to Highway 69. Southbound traffic should take County Road C to County Road N to WIS 81 to Highway 69.
The Green County Sheriff's Office says the detour could remain in place until around noon on Thursday.
