MADISON (WKOW) -- Multiple people have been displaced after a fire "significantly damaged" their apartments early Monday morning, according to fire officials.
Madison fire says around 4:45 a.m. firefighters were called to an apartment complex along the 2900 block of Commercial Avenue. Firefighters say smoke was seen coming from inside the building.
According to fire officials, most people who live in the apartment complex were able to get out safely on their own, except for two people who had to be rescued by a fire ladder.
Officials say it took firefighters about three minutes to put out the fire and no one was injured.
Right now, at least two apartments have been "significantly damaged".
The Red Cross is assisting all displaced residents.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
