WI DOJ Argues Against Dassey Hearing

The Wisconsin DOJ is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to deny a hearing request by convicted killer Brendan Dassey.  Dassey is appealing his conviction for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc Count.  Dassey was 16 at the time he was questioned by police and the defense argues his age, coupled with a low IQ, made him susceptible to making an involuntary confession.  Defense attorneys tell WSAW-TV too many courts have been misapplying and ignoring the Supreme Court's instructions that confessions for mentally impaired kids must be examined with the greatest care.
