(Brown County, WI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is issuing a warning after the weather caused a major traffic headache yesterday. The Shawano County Sheriff's Department says the pavement on westbound Highway 29 buckled near northbound Highway 32 yesterday afternoon, resulting in a complete shutdown of the freeway for about two hours.
WisDOT says pavement can buckle anywhere when temperatures rise rapidly, and is advising drivers to slow down, wear their seat belt, and be aware of their surroundings as they travel during this warm Memorial Day weekend.
Friday's incident damaged some vehicles, but no one was injured.
