Matthew Skalitzky has died of cancer. He is the man from Sun Prairie found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect of the 2015 killing of his mother. He used a sword to behead her. A Dane County judge on June 27 approved a plan for him to be released from Mendota Mental Health Institute to an assisted living facility. Skalitzky, 43, died the next day.
