Disturbance at La Follette High School leads to multiple arrests

Several arrests were been made Wednesday at La Follette High School after a disturbance among students, according to Madison police.

Officers were on the scene as of 2:45 p.m. Parents tell 27 News they are waiting to pick up their children. Some of the students were supposed to be out at 2 p.m.

In an email sent to La Follette families, Principal Sean Storch said that a small group of students became engaged in an argument during a staff-facilitated conversation in the Welcome Center conference room.

The argument escalated into threatening behaviors among a few of the students that required staff intervention to regulate the behavior of some of the participants, according to the email.

“While this was isolated to a specific group of students, I did want to notify you in case you do hear about it. Our students’ safety is our top priority, and we are following up appropriately,” Storch wrote.
