Man in hospital after being dragged by SUV in Monona

MONONA (WKOW) — Police are looking for a suspect they say dragged a man half a mile down the road with his vehicle.

According to Monona police, the victim was selling a cell phone to the suspect in the parking lot of Pier 37 on Broadway, off of Monona Drive, around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say during the transaction, the suspect took the phone without paying for it, so the 25-year-old seller grabbed onto the side of the man’s SUV and held on tight. He was dragged all the way down Broadway to Copps Avenue, where he lost grip and hit his head.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The SUV was last seen headed east on Broadway towards Stoughton Road.

Police say the suspect is described as a young, Asian man. He was driving a black SUV. It was possibly a Toyota RAV 4.
