MADISON (WKOW) — Benjamin Cortes, the Madison man accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian, pleaded guilty today to second-degree reckless homicide.
Police say Cortes was driving 102 miles per hour April 27 in a 30-mile per hour zone on Midvale Boulevard, when his car jumped the curb and hit Greg and Patty Nametz as they were walking their dog on the sidewalk.
Greg Nametz died. Patty Nametz was injured.
Cortes also pleaded guilty to first-degree recklessly endangering safety and first offense OWI.
Seven other charges, along with a bail jumping charge were dismissed.
