MADISON (WKOW) — Check your kitchen cabinets: Del Monte is recalling corn sold in Wisconsin and 24 other states.
The recall applies to canned fiesta corn seasoned with red and green peppers.
Del Monte issued the recall on December 11 due to under-processing of the corn. This means the product did not complete the sterilization process so there is the potential for Clostridium botulinum bacteria to grow. This bacteria creates toxins which can cause botulism – a life-threatening foodborne illness.
Products subject to the recall are 15.25 oz. cans with the following scanner barcode: 24000 02770, and the following “Best if Used By” date:
