PLATTEVILLE (WKOW) — The Grant County Sheriff’s office is looking for a man who allegedly stole two cars.
Police are searching for 29-year-old Thomas Kussmaul.
On Friday around 12:30 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a stolen 2003 Chevy Silverado from Southwest Road.
About half an hour later, police received multiple traffic complaints about the car from several people. The driver was squealing the tires, running stop signs and speeding throughout the city. Officers tried to find the car, but weren’t able to.
Finally, at 8 a.m., police found the Chevy on Airport Road at the intersection of CTY D. The Chevy had damage to its front end. Police also discovered a second vehicle had been stolen from Southwest Road. The rear window of a 2004 Ford Escape had been broken out while someone broke into the vehicle. At 5:30 p.m., officers found the stolen Ford behind a bar.
Police were able to identify Kussmaul through dash camera footage and footage from the City of Platteville.
Those with information are asked to call the Grant County Sheriff’s office or Grant County Crime Stoppers.
The Grant County Sheriff’s office is encouraging the public to not approach Kussmaul. It is unknown if he’s armed, but he is considered dangerous. He also has possible ties to the Prairie du Chien, Boscobel, Blue River, Platteville and Belmont areas.
