Reedsburg mother pleads guilty in child starvation death

SAUK COUNTY (WKOW) — A Reedsburg mother has pleaded guilty in the death of her child, who authorities found dead from starvation.

Titilayo Omosebi pleaded guilty Thursday in Sauk County Circuit Court to Neglecting a Child – Consequence is Death. A second charge of Neglecting a Child – Great Bodily Harm was dismissed as part of her plea agreement.

Reedsburg Police investigated after a 15-year-old boy was found dead in his home in September.  Police say he was extremely emaciated. His 11-year-old brother was also found extremely malnourished but was alive. Their parents told police they were participating in a religious fast.

The boys’ father, Kehinde Omosebi, is also charged with two counts of Neglecting a Child. He is currently undergoing a competency evaluation, according to court records.

Titilayo Omosebi is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
