New record low temperature set in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) – Madison crashed to -26° early this morning, setting a new record low temperature for this date. The previous record was -22° in 1985.

Wind chill warning continues until noon today. Wind chills this morning can be anywhere between 35 to 50 below zero. High temperatures won’t make it above zero. Expect some light snow to develop by late afternoon west and southwest of Dane County. This will then overspread Southern Wisconsin this evening, ending well before sunrise on Friday. A dusting to an inch of fluffy accumulation can be expected for most, possibly up to two inches near the WI/IL border. Perhaps just enough to slow you down a little tonight into Friday morning.

Expect temperatures tonight to hold steady or even rise a little. High temperatures will warm up into the teens tomorrow under partly sunny skies. Temperatures will continue to warm up especially by Monday of next week with highs approaching the upper 40s. However, rain, snow, and freezing rain chances will remain until Wednesday of next week.
