Prosecutors to call Cephus’s Badger teammates in sex assault trial

MADISON (WKOW) – The witness list submitted by prosecutors to Dane County court for the upcoming sexual assault trial of Badger football player Quintez Cephus includes two of his teammates.

Cephus is charged with sexually assaulting two UW students in his apartment in August 2018, with his trial to begin Monday. Cephus maintains the encounter with the women was consensual. The star wide receiver missed the entire 2018-19 season as a result of the pending case.

The thirty-eight people listed as potential witnesses by the prosecution include Badger wide receivers Daniel Davis and Ammon J. (AJ) Taylor.

Court records show one of the women accusing Cephus of assault also claimed Davis took a photograph of her nude without her consent.  Badger football coach Paul Chryst suspended Davis for two games in connection with the situation, but Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said no criminal charge would be brought against Davis.

Cephus’s trial is scheduled to last until Feb. 15.
