Watertown fire causes $1.1 million in damage

A fire in Watertown Monday morning did more than a million dollars in damage.

The Watertown Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 4:19 a.m. Monday after an oil burner ignited the blaze inside an approximately 5,000 sq. ft. shed, according to a press release from the Watertown Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they saw the fire already had burned through the roof and called for additional units.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 5:45 a.m.

The press release estimated the damage at $1.1 million, but did not say had been damaged aside from the shed’s structure.

“Heavy winds and low temperatures were factors in the extinguishment of this fire,” the press release said. “Additional departments and personnel were requested due to these factors.”
