WAUNAKEE (WKOW) — Waunakee Police officials say a 16-year-old Waunakee High student was arrested for the alleged sex assault of another student, with court records showing the incident took place at an off-campus party.
Police Chief Kevin Plendl says the teen suspect was booked into Dane County’s Juvenile Reception Center last month on a tentative charge of second degree sexual assault of a child while the victim was under the influence of an intoxicant.
“The alleged victim is a 15-year-old female,” Plendl says.
Court records in support of the search and seizure of cell phones and social media data state the sexual encounter between the boy and girl took place at a party Feb. 22, 2018.
Court records also state another boy videotaped a portion of the sex act. Records state the video was shared with others, with one Waunakee student watching it during a school basketball practice.
At least one judicially-approved search was based on the suspicion of the crime of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. Police officials offer no comment on that portion of the ongoing investigation.
