Wisconsin fishing season begins this weekend

(WKOW) — Southern Wisconsin will be graced with a sunny day for the beginning of the 2019 fishing season. It traditionally falls on the first Saturday of May.

Specifically, it’s the start of the season for walleye, bass and northern pike. The DNR advises crappies will be in deeper water this time of year, and bass and bluegill will likely be looking for warmer water.

DNR wardens suggest brushing up on this year’s fishingregulations.

Don’t forget, you need alicenseto fish in Wisconsin.
