Man seriously hurt after downtown robbery

MADISON (WKOW) — A man is seriously hurt after being attacked and robbed while working on his car in downtown Madison Tuesday night, according to the Madison Police Department.

Authorities said the robbery happened at about 11 p.m. outside of the Lakeshore Apartments on East Gilman Street.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, was working on his car when the suspect approached him. He allegedly had a gun and pistol-whipped the victim, taking personal property from him before running away.

According to police, the victim was able to chase after the suspect as he ran southbound on North Butler Street. The suspect got into a vehicle somewhere between East Gilman and East Gorham Street. He got away before police arrived.

The Madison Police Department is still looking for the suspect. They provided a description of him:

Light Skinned African American Male, Approximately 20-30 Years Old, 6’02” Tall, with a Slender Build. Last Seen Wearing a Grey and Red Baseball Cap with a Flat Red Brim, a T-Shirt, Pants, and Tennis Shoes.

The getaway vehicle was described as a 1990s Honda Accord with a defective muffler.
