Republican Lawmakers Cap Budget With 450 Million-Dollar Tax Cut

(Madison, WI) -- The budget from Wisconsin lawmakers includes nearly four-billion-dollars in new spending, and now 450-million-dollars in tax cuts. Republicans on the state's Joint Finance Committee yesterday ended their budget work session by approving the tax cut proposal. If Governor Evers agrees, the tax cuts would save people in Wisconsin, on average, 211 dollars over the next two years. Republican state Senator Alberta Darling says the tax cuts show that Republicans can craft a state budget without a tax increase. The two-year spending plan now heads to the full legislature, and then to Governor Evers' desk.
